Creativity
An important component to success in
any endeavor is creativity and innovation. Whether
it is the development of a new product or service, or adapting an
existing product or service, or simply delivering an existing
product or service in a better manner, creativity and innovation are
often rewarded with growth and, hopefully, financial success.
Researchers at Rhode Island College have found that exercise has a positive effect on creativity.
Kicking up your heart rate, and breaking a sweat will help you to be
more creative. In a separate study at Ball State University,
researchers found that entrepreneurs who engaged in aerobic exercise
felt better about their businesses and had much higher sales than
the group that did not engage in aerobic exercise. Entrepreneurs who
participated in anaerobic exercise shared their aerobic
counterparts’ enthusiasm for business, but did not have the same
higher level of sales.
The bottomline, exercise! It will not only help your
health, but will also help your business.
Speaking of creativity, where can you find a more concentrated
source of creativity and innovation than on the internet? So here
are a couple of examples that can help you daily…
- www.google.com/notebook - With
this add-on, you can clip images, text and links and save them on
a virtual note pad. You can then re-organize it, add notes, and
share it with others. You can set up a separate notebook for each
project.
- www.redroller.com - An easy way to compare shipping prices at a
variety of carriers including DHL, FedEx, and the US Postal
Service. UPS isn’t there yet, but should be shortly. Just enter
some basic information about your package and where it is going,
and you will be shown the most cost-effective way to ship it.
How would you like to add your picture, or your logo, or other
design to the postage stamps that you use on your mail? Go to this
website, or to endicia.com or zazzle.com, and upload your graphic
much as you would upload photographs. Your stamps will arrive in
the mail some 7 – 10 days later.
These are just a few of the millions of examples of creativity
and innovation on the web, but, instead of using someone else’s
creativity, get to the gym, start exercising, and add your own ideas
to the world.
Happy New Year!
