Your website is finished…or is it?
Not really. If your website serves to attract prospective
clients rather than just as an electronic brochure
for your company it is important that you continuously
tinker with it in order to maximize your exposure
to the search engines. You also want the website
to be an appropriate representation of your business,
and you want it to be easy to navigate.
- Take a fresh
look at your website.
Is it doing what you want it to?
- Is the website giving
visitors a succinct overview of
your company?
- Is the website organized in
a logical manner?
- Is the website pleasing to
look at?
Do the colors and the design reflect your company?
- Is the website full
of “flash” and animation?
Cut back on this. The search engines
penalize you for a lot of “flash”.
Keep it to an absolute minimum.
- Make sure your keywords – the
words potential prospects would
search – are included in the text.
The search engines look for
these words when they crawl through
your site.
- Back-link your
site to other, related sites. The
more other sites link to yours, the
better you will do with the search
engines.
Periodically add content
to your site, enrich it.
Don’t allow
your website to get stale.
Like the web itself, it has to change
to remain relevant and to serve you best.
